SOCCER: BLOW FOR FINN HARPS AS GARBHAN FRIEL QUITS

first_imgSOCCER: Finn Harps FC striker Garbhan Friel has decided to quit the club after struggling to make an impact at Finn Park. Garbhan Friel was signed by James Gallagher in early 2011, but he left when in June after Gallagher was relived of his duties in April that year.Friel then went on to become a prolific striker at Cockhill Celtic. Friel regularly blasted in over twenty goals a season and helped Donal O’Brien’s side to multiple league and cup successes. That form prompted Ollie Horgan to re-sign Friel in January this year. However, Friel has found playing time hard to come by and was mostly used off the bench by Horgan. He only made a couple of starts and failed to find the net for Horgan’s side. The recent signing of Nathan Boyle pushed Friel further down the pecking order and he has decided to leave the club.Friel has been linked with a move back to Cockhill Celtic, but it has also been rumoured a number of clubs in the Irish League are keen to acquire his services.Harps still don’t know if they have a fixture this weekend. They’re scheduled to face UCD on Sunday, but the students are in Europa League action again on Thursday night and whether or not they face Harps depends on what result they get tonight.SOCCER: BLOW FOR FINN HARPS AS GARBHAN FRIEL QUITS was last modified: July 22nd, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Finn Harps FCGAAGarbhan FrielnewsSportlast_img
