first_imgPearse Doherty, the Sinn Fein spokesman on finance, has made a shared libel settlement with the Irish Examiner newspaper for more than €100,000.Deputy Pearse DohertyThe Donegal TD and his party’s deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald, sued the newspaper last November over an editorial and an opinion column dealing with the Maíria Cahill rape case.Cahill came to public attention in October when she alleged she was raped by a suspected IRA member, and then ordered to stay silent after an IRA “kangaroo court” investigated her claims.
