first_img DIVISION IV-AA Loma Linda Academy 71, Westminster La Quinta 55 Nico Walters scored 26 points with five assists as the Aquinas boys basketball team defeated Moreno Valley Calvary Chapel, 73-39 in CIF-Southern Section boys Division IV-AA first-round basketball play Wednesday. Cory Hollamon added 18 points with eight steals, seven assists and seven rebounds for Aquinas (16-9). Senior Steven Catalon scored 20 points as the Roadrunners (20-7) defeated the Aztecs. Thad Lowe added 14 in the win for Loma Linda Academy, which faces Kaiser on Friday or Saturday, pending a coin flip. Kaiser 84, Joshua Springs 55 Hakeem Nance scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures as the host Cats (15-12) rolled to the victory. Daniel Sosa also had 16 points for the Cats, who used a 33-point third period to break the game open. center_img Kaiser will play Loma Linda Academy on Friday or Saturday. DIVISION I-A Hawthorne 81, Rancho Cucamonga 77 Nick Bennett had 21 points for the Cougars (16-13), but it wasn’t enough as Hawthorne (17-10) advanced with the wild-card win. Brandon Richardson had 33 points and five assists for Hawthorne, which advances to play at Santa Barbara in the first round Friday. DIVISION II-AA Burbank 53, Montclair 47 Abrahim Sulaiman scored 15 points with five rebounds as the Cavaliers (12-15) lost to the Bulldogs. Dilonzo Board scored 14 points in the loss for Montclair, third-place finishers in the Mt. Baldy league. Vista Murrieta 81, Rialto 69 Ross Taplin scored 23 points as the Broncos broke open a close wild-card game in the fourth quarter against the visiting Knights. Shawn Sawyer scored 25 points for the Knights (14-16), who were outscored 20-10 in the final period. Jameur Carter added 18. DIVISION IV-A L.A. Baptist 44, Webb 40 Omar Hajj scored 15 points as the Gauls (10-8) ended their season in overtime. Buckley 71, Calvary Baptist 51 Senior Randy Agyepong scored 34 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Cougars fell to the Griffins. Rajjon Owens scored 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars (12-12). DIVISION V-A Packinghouse Christian 67, Lee Vining 53 Spencer Hirsch scored 25 points and grabbed 21 rebounds as the Bears defeated the Tigers.
