Father slapped with larceny charge

first_imgA man who broke into a car in front of his son’s school was remanded to prison when he appeared before city Magistrate Judy Latchman.Twenty-nine-year-old Albert Defreitas, of Lot 100 Leopold Street, Georgetown, denied that on January 31, 2018 at Parade Street, Georgetown, he stole one Samsung cellphone, one laptop, makeup, a handbag and other items values a total of $525,000 from Sherry Haynes’ car.According to Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore, Defreitas has a pending matter of a similar nature before the court.He revealed that Defreitas was caught on CCTV footage entering the woman’s car. He disclosed the facts of the matter stating that on the day of the incident, Haynes secured her car and went into her child’s school, which is the same school that Defreitas’s son attends.However, upon her return 20 minutes later, she saw that her car had been broken into and that the listed items were missing.A report was made, and the defendant was reportedly found to be in possession of the stolen laptop.As such, Defreitas was remanded to prison to return on February 26.last_img
