Bong Elects Cummings as ANC Standard Bearer

Cummings as the party’s standard bearer.Mr. Cummings ran unopposed in Bong and won the nomination through a white ballot.  The Gbarnga delegates that took the decision were selected from the seven electoral districts in the county, the party has said in a statement yesterday.The Bong County primary that elected Mr. Cummings is the ANC’s second afterMontserrado County partisans made similar endorsement a fortnight ago. The exercise is expected to take place in all 15 counties.Prior to the delegates’ endorsement of Mr. Cummings, he and his entourage were earlier welcomed to the city by Ambassador Jeremiah Sulunteh’s many supporters, among them the party’s eminent members and natives of the county, while on their way to the ANC’s headquarters.Mr. Cummings’ candidacy was formally endorsed by several prominent groups in Bong during a program held before the county primary at the party’s headquarters in Gbarnga.Others endorsed with Mr. Cummings were Representative Lester Paye, who recently announced that he will join the ANC.Meanwhile, Mr. Cummings has again dismissed reports that he is worried about theSupreme Court ruling on the Code of Conduct, adding, “I am not affected by the court’s ruling.”Shortly after his endorsement by his Bong County partisans, Mr. Cummings thanked his fellow partisans and supporters, and promised them that it if they were willing to work with him and the ANC, that together they could build a better Liberia.He also drew their attention to the many untapped resources in the county, including the Kpatawee Waterfalls and its capability to bring hydroelectricity to the residents.“You deserve to have electricity throughout Bong.
