Croatia Airlines celebrates its 30th birthday


first_imgOn this day thirty years ago, the Croatian airline was born.  New menu with indigenous dishes and a new mobile application Today, the fleet of Croatia Airlines consists of twelve aircraft: four Airbus A319, two Airbus 320 and six turboprop aircraft Dash 8-Q400. Airbus aircraft bear the names of Croatian cities (Zagreb, Split, Zadar, Pula, Vukovar and Dubrovnik), and Q400 aircraft bear the names of Croatian regions (Slavonia, Lika, Dalmatia, Istria, Zagorje and Primorje). During this season, the planes fly to 8 domestic and 30 international destinations in regular traffic and directly connect Croatia with 24 countries. This year, a new menu was introduced  business class on international flights of the company as part of which passengers are served meals prepared using indigenous Croatian recipes and ingredients. A novelty is the redesigned mobile application of Croatia Airlines for devices with iOS and Android operating system, which enables even simpler and faster check-in for the flight, and also contains many other improved functionalities.   The first passenger flight of Croatia Airlines was performed on May 5, 1991 on the route Zagreb – Split, which established regular passenger traffic within Croatia. Connecting Croatia with the world began on April 5, 1992 with the first international flight on the Zagreb-Frankfurt route, and in the same year the company began to create its own fleet by purchasing a Boeing 737-200 aircraft.center_img Exactly three decades ago, on August 7, 1989, Zagreb Airlines dd (Zagal), an air transport company, was registered in Zagreb, which started operating in December of the same year, providing the service of transporting postal items. About a year later, on July 23, 1990, Zagal changed its name to Croatia Airlines dd, the national airline for the transport of passengers, goods and mail.
